BookAwardsChallenge

After 4 days of deliberation, I have finally made my list. I have a couple of favorites I'm going to reread. It's been a while. And there are two I enjoyed as a child I want to reread. It's been a looong whiiile. I followed the Yahoo Pulitzer_literature link and picked up a couple there. I got one from my ClassicClub list. There are two from my Book of Great Books. I wandered around the house and found a couple I already own. And finally, I picked the Pulitzer Prize winning books by 5 Nobel Prize winning authors. There was another eligible for this particular criteria but it's too soon to reread "The Old Man and the Sea."

I loved loved loved The Known World. And I met the author two years ago at a writing conference, and he is the most unassuming, humble person you'll ever meet. Awesome choice!

Oh yeah, and I also really loved Lonesome Dove. I totally didn't expect to like a western book but it's fabulous.

Seventeen! You're impressive! I stuck with the bare minimum of 12. If I happen to read an award-winning book during the year, I'll sneak it on my list as an afterthought. ;)

I STILL haven't picked my books. I do love Ishiguro though. I may add that one to the list. Gone With the Wind and To Kill a Mockingbird are fantastic.

I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than read Gilead though!! It is one of the few books I Did Not Finish last year. I was bored to TEARS!! Funny, though. Some people love it!

What a great list! I don't think I will be able to resist joining this challenge for much longer.

I see you picked Middlesex. It's easily one of my top 3 all-time favourite books.

Hi Kimmie! I sent you an invite on the 6th. Maybe it went to your junk/bulk email folder? I re-sent you another one, so just follow the link and then you'll be able to post just like on your own blog.

Welcome to the challenge!

I have a few of these on my list and have read a few (I loved Cold Mountain and Gone with the Wind). Like Stephanie, it was such a chore to get through Gilead! I've been wanting to read The Road, but I think it'll have to wait!
