Index Liborum Liberorum

Index Librorum Liberorum
Toast the taste makers of the religious world

I finished another challenge. This one was difficult.

1.) Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert<>France
2.) Les Misérables by Victor Hugo<>France
3.) The Hunchback of Notre-Dame by Victor Hugo<>France
4.) Justine by the Marquis de Sade<>France
5.) Candide by Voltaire<>France
6.) The Prince by Niccolὸ AMachiavelli<>Italy
7.) The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene<>England
8.) Paradise Lost by Milton<>England
9.) Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift<>Ireland

Both of the books by Victor Hugo were huge. It was my second time reading Les Mes. Candide and Gulliver's Travels were both fun to read. Justine was a waste of time, money and brain space. It was the only one I agreed with the Vatican on. My favorite off the List was The Power and the Glory. I'll reread that one someday.

Fall into Reading Challenge 2007

I'm late posting this. Yeah two months late. Anyway, I did finish the challenge. It ended on Dec. 21st. About a week before it ended I realized I had two more books. (Christmas time-I was busy). I grabbed the last two books for The Unread Arthurs Challenge. Once I realized it I just swapped the titles on the list. I read them for the sole purpose of finishing the challenge so I think they count. Anyway, here's the completed list.

1.) The Locket Ж Richard Paul Evans
2.) Love in the Time of Cholera Ж Gabriel García Márquez
3.) O Pioneers! Ж Willa Cather
4.) Ricochet Ж Sandra Brown
5.) Veronika Decides to Die Ж Paulo Coelho
6.) The Wrong Hostage Ж Elizabeth Lowell

Unread Authors Challenge

I found a new challenge through Wendy's blog. It's Unread Authors Challenge I have enough books lying around my house to find 6 that qualify. Plus I'll be getting 3 more (so far) for my book clubs. So, I have no doubt my list could be doubled by the time the challenge begins in September.

But for now, my books are:

1.) The Jungle by Upton Sinclair
2.) The Locket by Richard Paul Evans
3.) Rose's Garden by Carrie Brown
4.) The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
5.) Notes on a Scandal by Zoë Heller
6.) Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier

September can't get here soon enough. These look like some good books.

Update: February 29

I'm afraid I didn't stick to my list. I joined the 888 challenge and some of my books got reassigned. But since I have plenty of books I just tossed some into this. My final list is here. I got The Jungle and Rose's Garden. But I messed up and grabbed the wrong two books to finish the Fall into Reading 2008 Challenge. So I substitted the two I missed here. They were Frankenstein and Playing for Pizza. And for forgotten reasons I rouded out with Shoot the Moon and A Widow for One Year.
Lots of good books on this list.
